Dr. King’s Early Life and Education
My personal assessment is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was the greatest American that America had ever produced. He was a man of integrity, great courage, and a visionary. He was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia to Reverend Martin Luther King, Sr. and Alberta Williams King.
At a tender young age, Martin Luther King Jr. knew how prudent it was to have a great education. He skipped both the ninth and the twelfth grade and entered Morehouse College at age fifteen without formally graduating from high school. He graduated from Morehouse with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology in 1948. Then he enrolled in Crozer Theological Seminary in Chester, Pennsylvania, which he graduated with a Bachelor of Divinity degree in 1951.
